Summer Game Development Program

Every Summer, the Boston Cyberarts Game Development Program introduces high school students to game development using the Unity engine. Throughout the multi-week intensive, high school participants collaborate with college mentors to design, build and publish their own playable video games. This is in partnership with the City of Bostons’s SuccessLink youth employment program. By participating, teens earn an hourly wage while learning real world skills in technology and design.

Students learn foundational game development skills, creating interactive 2D/3D games and exploring various game design concepts. The workshops are led by game design professionals and college computer science students from local institutions, fostering hands-on learning and peer mentorship.

Participants tour different colleges across the city and learn about different creative fields, adapting a professional framework into their projects.

During the final week of the program students will showcase and play their finished games. Optionally students will be able to show their games at the annual Big Summa’ Show hosted by Artists for Humanity (AFH) located in South Boston.
