Boston Cyberarts

“ A window is a threshold—a place where looking, movement, and imagination meet.”

Window of Opportunities transforms the Boston CyberArts window space into a site for experimentation, play, and collective discovery. Located at the intersection of public transportation, pedestrian movement, and digital art, the windows become both a threshold and a screen: a place where inside and outside, observer and participant, physical and digital experience overlap.

For one evening, artists Yue Hua and Shozab Raza’s Window of Opportunities activate the four-window storefront and its surrounding public space through light, projection, motion, and audience interaction. Using TouchDesigner, motion tracking, projection, and optical effects, the installation responds to the presence and movement of people in the space, turning everyday pedestrian activity into an audiovisual experience.

The project turns the window into more than something to look through, placing the viewer within the image itself. Movement becomes a form of participation; the passing body becomes a source of visual transformation. The familiar storefront is temporarily reimagined as a porous interface between the street and the gallery.

Also featured is Paul Turano’s Hammock Poem, an early-summer reverie that invites the body to give itself over to the sway. Together, the works create an evening of movement, light, and sensory encounter - where the rhythms of the street become intertwined with digital and physical forms of play.

Artists Bios

Yue Hua / 华越 (she/her) is a filmmaker and interdisciplinary artist working with analog film, expanded cinema, projection, and digital media. Her practice explores cross-cultural identity, language, memory, and the female experience through a personal and material lens. Her films and performances have been presented internationally at film festivals, galleries, and art institutions, including Fisura International Festival of Experimental Film & Video, Brooklyn Film Festival, and AVIFF Le Festival du Film d’Artiste.

Shozab Raza (b. 1997, Pakistan) is a Boston-based design technologist who blends design and code to create interactive experiences. Drawing on posthuman frameworks, his practice explores interactive surfaces, objects, and environments that invite encounters between humans and machines. His work has been presented at museums, galleries, and institutions including MIT, Harvard University, and the Museum of Science.

Paul Turano is a Boston-based visual artist working across film, video, sound, and emerging  media. His work explores personal space, observation, and our relationship to natural environments. His films have been presented internationally at festivals, museums, and galleries, including the Harvard Film Archive, Institute of Contemporary Art Boston, Museum of Fine Arts Boston, and over 100 film festivals worldwide. He is an Associate Professor at Emerson College and a recipient of grants from the Massachusetts Cultural Council and LEF Foundation.
